There are four Upa-Vedas or subsidiary Vedas
1)Ayurvedam( upa veda to rgveda) authored by Brahma, Twin Gods called' Aswinis' and Dhanwantari.The later are the doctors to the Gods.
2)Dhanurveda(upa veda to Yajur veda): Viswa mitra authored this on being taught by Brahma and Siva
3)Gandharva (upa veda to sama veda) : furthering the traditions of sangita(music) started in sama veda,by Sage Bharata,who was well versed in music and dance.
4)Artha veda (upa veda to Atharva Veda)gives Loukika vidyas such as Neeti(ethics of life),aswa(horses),shilpa(sculptures),paka(cooking)etc.
